"Camping Hindeloopen" is a child-friendly four-star campsite on the IJsselmeer. The IJsselmeer is a large lake located in the north of the Netherlands. Lazing on a bench you will enjoy the wonderful view across the IJsselmeer with the town of Stavoren, the scenery (with little islands and a cabin for bird watching) and the beach life in the distance, as far as Hindeloopen, one of the towns of the famous Eleven Towns Skating Race.
Location The campsite is separated from this lake only by a sea wall and so lies inside the dike. The lake is locally quite shallow, which makes it safe! So you will meet many swimmers and surfers on the campsite.
Hindeloopen It takes but a ten-minute walk to experience the charm and friendly atmosphere of Hindeloopen. Get a feel for Hindeloopen's unique character by wandering through the narrow streets and looking for the lovely views, the typical wooden bridges, characteristic façades, painter's studios, etc. In the old fishing port you will find inviting bars and restaurants, from where you can watch the boats coming and going. Hindeloopen's two museums, Het "Hidde Nijland Museum" and "Het eerste Friese Schaatsmuseum" (the first Friesian Skating Museum) are definitely worth visiting. The neighbouring towns of Workum, Bolsward and Sneek do not only offer a great amount of history and culture, but also plenty of entertainment and pleasant shopping streets. Why not take a boat or canoe trip towards the Friesian Lakes?
